Many Shopify merchants may be unaware of the dedicated store policies feature available within the platform.
When creating a terms and conditions page, it may seem like the easiest approach is to create a regular page in Shopify’s admin, write your content, save it, and then link it in your store’s footer menu. While this method works, utilizing Shopify’s built-in policies feature offers additional advantages.
One primary advantage is improved accessibility; the policies feature centralizes these pages within the admin area, which is especially beneficial for stores with numerous pages. This dedicated section enhances usability for non-technical users.
You can locate this area by going to Settings > Legal

-
Here, you will find editors for your Refund Policy, Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, and Shipping Policy.
-
After you add and save your policies, Shopify automatically generates individual pages and adds links to them in your checkout footer.
-
It is also advisable to link these policy pages from the theme footer. This can be accomplished by adding the pages to the footer menu via Settings and then Navigation.
-
It is important to note that Shopify assigns specific URLs to each policy page. When linking to these pages, use the following URLs:
-
Refund policy: /policies/refund-policy
-
Privacy policy: /policies/privacy-policy
-
Terms of service: /policies/terms-of-service
-
Shipping policy: /policies/shipping-policy
