If you log into your Google Search Console (GSC) and see the dreaded message “Discovered – currently not indexed”, don’t panic! It just means that Google knows your page exists but hasn’t gotten around to crawling and indexing it yet.
Wondering why and how to fix it? Let’s break it down in a simple, easy-to-digest way.

This issue happens when:
-
Google found your page but hasn’t crawled it yet.
-
It’s waiting in line to be checked (and might be stuck there).
-
There are technical reasons why Google is skipping it.
Where to Find This Issue in Google Search Console
-
Open Google Search Console.
-
Go to Indexing → Pages.
-
Look for the section that says “Discovered – currently not indexed.”
-
If your page is listed there, that means Google saw it but hasn’t visited it yet.
Why can this issue happen? There are many reasons:
Your Website Is New - Google takes time to trust new sites.
Your Page Has Thin Content Or Stubs – read more about stubs if you are not familiar with them, or find out more about thin content.
Too Many Pages To Crawl – Google prioritizes important pages first.
No Internal Links To The Page – If it’s a “hidden” page, Google doesn’t know it’s important.
Technical Issues – Something might be blocking Google (like robots.txt).
How to Fix “Discovered – Currently Not Indexed”
Ask Google to Index Your Page
-
Open Google Search Console -> URL Inspection Tool
-
Paste your URL and click "Request Indexign”
Sometimes, this is all you need! But let's see other important things we need to do to make sure this won't happen again:
-
Make sure your page is easy to find:
-
Add links to this page from other pages on your website.
-
Check your anchor text (not just “click here” or “here” )
-
If it's possible, add the page to the navigation menu or footer.
-
Check if your page has enough content. Make sure your page has helpful value information, images, or videos, think in mind “Would I click on this page in search results?” No? Then improve it!
-
Submit your sitemap to Google.
-
Check for technical problems:
-
If your page isn’t blocked by robots.txt
-
If there are no index tags in your HTML
-
Are there redirect chains or broken links
That's it!
